exist†trace is an all-female Japanese rock band in the visual-kei scene that formed in June of 2003. They were signed to indies label Sequence Records, but switched to Monster's inc. in November of 2008. Their visuals can be described as gothic and while some of the members go for a more feminine look, their image remains dark. It matches their music well, which is gloomy and heavy with lots of screaming and occasional growling side by side with melodic singing. Their name is supposed to mean "trace of presence", which is also their concept, asking the meaning of life through music.
