Depend on You
Hamasaki recorded this song, as well as "For My Dear...," during the recording sessions for the "A Song for XX" album. Comments from Ayu on the lyrics: "'Depend on you' is the first single where I put actual question marks (?) in the lyrics." "If I were to ask 'What is the #1 thing I would change about this year?' it would be getting used to people so I'd be able to trust them. Thinking about it that way, I thought I would be able to eventually trust myself too. Because if you can't trust yourself, you can't ever trust other people, right?" "If you stumble upon something, hesitate, and stop, it's okay to go to where you feel at home and cry or get angry. When all is said & done you & you alone have the answer of what to do then. But in those times, I personally try to give myself a boost. In the case of 'Depend on you,' I wondered, 'Am I now assigning a little bit of that strength to myself?,' and that's what I wrote about." The single reached #6 on Oricon charts and stayed on the charts for a total of nine weeks. During its first week the single sold 36,840 copies, since then the single has sold a total of 131,460 copies. Track Listing
