Its formation was announced in September 2005, and their first single, which was released on October 19 2005, reached Number 1 in the [[Oricon]] weekly rankings. They were originally expected to be a short-term group and have only one release; this was based on the pattern followed by previous groups comprised of soloists, as well as the helloproject.com [http://www.helloproject.com/newslist/050903-1.html announcement] which said that it was a "Special unit for 2005". However, in March 2006 their second single was released, suggesting that this group might be around for a while longer. The fact that the new song, [[Let's Go Rakuten Eagles]], was the new official cheer song for the [http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tohoku_Rakuten_Golden_Eagles Rakuten Eagles] baseball team, as well as the fact that the members were busy with other H!P units (Matsuura as half of [[GAM]], Ishikawa as leader of [[Biyuuden]]) or solo careers (Abe and Goto) meant that the group had not established a release pattern which is typical of more long-lived groups in Hello! Project.
