Indies
Indies is an Engrish term used chiefly to describe bands on independent record labels in the visual-kei and angura-kei world. Some also refer to other independent bands as "indies," however this isn't totally common. Independent bands in other genres (most notably experimental) are usually considered underground (which is interesting, because that is what angura means in Japanese) in terms of record label signings.
Similar Terms
This is not to be confused with Indie, a musical style typical of bands such as Waive. Sometimes these terms are mixed, and then it is up to the reader to decide the true meaning, however irrelevant.
