Information

Jolin Tsai is a singer-dancer from Taipei, Taiwan. She is considered to be the Taiwanese Britney Spears as she is one of the most popular female Taiwanese singers and utilizes many different styles of music. These can be anything from regular pop to R&B or even rock. She started out at the age of 18 by taking part in an MTV singing competition and ended up winning and being signed to Universal Music.

Her first album, Jolin 1019 was released in September 1999 and sold more than 400,000 copies around Asia. Her second album, Don't Stop, was released May 2000 and was as big a success as the preceding album.

As she matured, her imaged changed. She adopted long flowing auburn hair and dressed a little more on the wild side. She released her third and fourth albums, Show Your Love and Lucky Number, however they didn't compare to the sales of the last two albums and forced Jolin into a year long haitus.

After signing with Sony Records she managed to break into the business once again with her album called Magic which topped the charts for 3 months and sold 330,000 in Taiwan. Jolin's sixth album, Castle, sold very well and included writing collaborations with another popular Taiwanese artist, Jay Chou. She later released her seventh album, J-Game, which sold well and features collaborations with Lee-Hom Wang. In 2006, Jolin left her Sony Records label and joined EMI Capitol. She recently released her eighth album, Dancing Diva, and has sold over 2 million copies within Asia.
