Key-A-Kiss

Key-A-Kiss

Key-A-Kiss (キーヤキッス) was an all-female J-Eurobeat/Disco group produced by avex trax. They were active from March 2000 to September 2001.

They got their name from a show they were featured on: sukiyaki. Sukiyaki spelled backwards in Japanese is "Key-a-kiss" (ki-ya-ki-su).

Information

In 2000, avex trax held an audition called avex dream 2000, where they were searching for people who could become the last big star of the 20th century. 120,000 people across the country applied to the contest. There, three girls (NAHOMI, YUKIMI and TOMOMI) were chosen as vocalists for a new group that was given the name Key-A-Kiss.

Before their third single, four new girls were added to the group: HITOMI, ERINO, RUMI and NAMI. The band changed their name from Key-A-Kiss to Key-A-Kiss Panic (キーヤキッスぱにっく). But on December 23 2000, HITOMI and NAMI graduated. The group released their third and fourth singles under this name before they changed it back to Key-A-Kiss.

On May 31st 2003, three years after their debut, the group disbanded. According to the official web site, there was an all member graduation where the five remaining girls chose to walk their own paths.[1]
