MIMU was a member of the Japanese pop vocal and dance unit Happiness. She attended the dance school EXPG in Osaka, appearing at EXILE's events, in music videos and on tour as a background dancer. In the spring of 2009, it was decided that she would become a member of the LDH unit Happiness among other EXPG students, and her official stage name became MIMU. She left the group in October 2012 to focus on her studies.
