"Namida no Taiyou" is Melon Kinenbi's 12th single. This release sold 9,205 copies in its first week and copies 12,070 over all. "Namida no Taiyou" appears on the albums THE Nimaime, Petit Best 5, and MEGA MELON.

The title track is a cover of Emy Jackson's debut single, which was in English and subtitled "Crying in a Storm." Anzai Maria released a Japanese version in 1973. It was then covered by Tanaka Minako, Sandii & The Sunsetz, and B'z guitarist Matsumoto Tak with Aiuchi Rina before Melon Kinenbi's version was released.
