Information

In summer 2005, Toru with High School friends Alex and Ryota started the band. It started after each of them got their musical instruments. After that TAKA joined and they focused on performing lives in the Tokyo area.

In 2006 they independently released 2 mini albums. Because their albums sales, their participation at festivals that summer and their energetic lives in the outskirts of Tokyo, were noticed by a foreign record company. At their first One-Man Live done at LOFT in Shinjuku 500 people attended.

In March 2007 Tomoya officially joined the group and the 5 person group made their major debut by releasing their first single Naihi Shinsho on April 25th. In April 2009, Alex was arrested due to sexual harassment, causing the cancel of the band upcoming single Around the world Shounen and it drama tie-in along with their 2009 tour.

The group came up with the name ONE OK ROCK because they would book studio time at One o'clock. The Japanese pronunciation of ONE OK ROCK (ワンオクロック) is wanokurokku which sounds like One o’clock.
