Information

"Ringo no Uta" is Shiina Ringo's ninth single as a solo artist. The title translates to "Ringo's Song", or "The song of the Apple". Track #2 is an orchestrated version of "Yokushitsu" (from Shouso Strip), sung in English. Track #3, "Ringo Catalogue", is a song of extreme complexity, as the whole piece is composed from all of Shiina's past songs. The song's instrumentals track her path through the music business, using various unique instruments featured in past songs Shiina had released. The song finishes on reverb of "Ichijiku no Hana", a bonus track from the analog version of Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana. The lyrics are also composed from her previous songs. "Ringo no Uta" is also featured as the first track of Kyouiku, Tokyo Jihen's first album, but in a remade form. "Ringo no Uta" reached #2 on Oricon charts, and charted for 12 weeks. The single sold 114,000 copies.

This single was used as a way to symbolise the fact that Shiina was no longer performing as a solo artist. The idea that Shiina had got her famous mole removed was constant with the album PV's. The single comes with an All-Region DVD featuring the PV for "Ringo no Uta", as well as an unplugged version of the "Ringo no Uta" PV - a sort of upclose version focusing on her "characters" throughout her career. This single was released on Shiina's birthday. The first press edition featured a mole on Shiina Ringo's face in the cover image.
