"secret MAIKO lips" is the first digital single released by BAND-MAID as their alter-ego, BAND-MAIKO. The concept originated as an April Fool's Day joke in 2018, when the band announced that they were changing their image from that of maids to maikos (apprentice geishas). This track was a re-recording of their earlier song, "secret My lips," incorporating traditional Japanese instruments and lyrics sung in the Kyoto dialect. One day later, the band announced they would return to being BAND-MAID. The concept was successful, and led to a mini-album being released under the BAND-MAIKO name the following year.
