Shimamiya Eiko (2012)

Shimamiya Eiko (島みやえい子) is a Japanese singer, composer and lyricist who gained prominence as a result of her long association with I've Sound.

Profile

Information

Shimamiya Eiko began working with I've Sound in 1999 and has contributed to a large number of I've Sound compilation albums. She has also been a member of I've Sound vocal units Healing Leaf and Love Planet Five. She has at various times been credited under the pseudonyms EIKO and PEKO. Shimamiya made her major label debut with the mini-album ULYSSES, and released her first full-length album O on October 4, 2006.

Shimamiya composes most of her own music and is noted for the sensitive and poetic nature of her lyrics. For several years Shimamiya ran a music school called Shimamiya Size (S-size) which merged with another school in late 2010. Shimamiya continues her work as vocal instructor. In 2011 Shimamiya parted company with I've Sound and established her own Infinity project which acts as an incubator for young vocalists. Included in the list of her former pupils are KOTOKO, lela, Mami Kawada and ASUKA. In recent years Shimamiya has made regular doujin releases at Comiket and M3.
