Speed Metal
Speed Metal is a form of music that has evolved from heavy metal. Speed metal usually has more 'aggressive' vocal,s the sounds of the vocals being more growling and semiferal than in mainstream metal. Speed metal is characterised particularly by use of very fast riffs, drums, etc- speed. They are sometimes related to death metal bands (Children of Bodom are considered a crossover) and generally remain on the fringe of music, the style considered inaccessible by many except for hardcore fans.
Bands influenced by or influences in development of speed metal include Soulfly, X Japan, Children of Bodom, Metallica.
