Information

Takaki Mio was born on December 31, 1959 in Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture. She spent most of her time growing up in Sapporo and Yokohama. While in elementary school, Takaki acted in many stage plays. She continued acting in various small stage productions until high graduation. After graduation, she became an OL for Daiichi Kangyo Bank (now Mizuho Bank). Takaki wanted to work but didn't feel like she wanted to work as an OL anymore. So, she quit the job in 1981 in hopes to become an entertainment manager. However, she became an actress after passing an audition that caught the attention of the interview panel at Amuse Pro.

Takaki made her debut as an actress in the 1981 movie "Morning Moon ha Sozatsu ni". She appeared in various doramas and movies throughout the 1980s. In 1985, she was involved in the Italo-German film The Berlin Affair, playing the main character Matsugae Mitsuko.

She also made her singing debut in 1981 by releasing the single "Koi no Onna no Story", a song that was used as an insert theme in her debut movie. She had a short-lived music career in the 1980s, releasing five albums and nine singles. Her best selling single was her third single, "Dance wa Umaku Odorenai". The single, a cover of the same-titled song by Ishikawa Seri, sold over 800,000 copies.

Takaki Mio decided to focus more on her acting career in the 1990s. She appeared as the character Ichikawa Machiko in the TBS dorama HOTEL. She also played the character Captain Iruma Megumi in the tokusatsu series Ultraman Tiga in 1996. The character later made a small appearance in the sequel, Ultraman Dyna.

In 2003, Takaki took a hiatus from show business in order to get medical treatment for hemifacial spasm. During her hiatus, she worked a part-time job while resting at her parent's house. She also underwent cranium surgery during the hiatus. Takaki Mio was first against the surgery as the procedure was dangerous. But, she decided to go through with it after receiving encouragement letters from fans.

She made her television comeback in 2009 by appearing on the variety show Majo-tachi no 22ji and various dramas.
