fromis_9 (프로미스나인) is a Korean pop 9-member project girl group that was formed via the Mnet TV show Idol Hakgyo. Their name stands from "From Idol School" and is pronounced like "Promise", also meaning "to keep their promise to be the best girl group".
The group debuted on January 24, 2018, under Stone Music Entertainment with the release of their first mini-album To. Heart. The mini-album debuted at #4 on the January 27th Gaon Album Chart.
On May 10th, it was confirmed that member Jang Gyuri entered as a contestant on Mnet's trainee survival show Produce 48. The group remained as a eight-member group and released their second mini-album, To. Day on June 5th. The group went back to nine members after Gyuri was eliminated in the 3rd elimination round.
Their special single, "From.9", is released this week on October 10th.
