the do-nuts (ザ・ドゥーナッツ) is a Japanese 50s/60s rock duo from Okinawa. Although they are on indies label Spice Music, avex trax sub-label J-more distributes them as of their third single. They are considered the "younger sisters" of ORANGE RANGE.

Information

the do-nuts was formed in 2003 by high school students and models MC Akino and MC Eriko after the two passed the Okinawa Idol Discovery Project. Their name is from the Japanese word for summer ("natsu", which sounds similar to the English word "nuts" when said) and the English word for "Do" (as in to take action). Their first single, a mail-order limited release, came out in August of the following year. Their national debut single, "Nagisa no GO GO GIRL!!", was used in a number of commercials.

After over a year of no release activity, the girls were put on the avex trax sub-label J-more. Their releases solely on Spice Music were that of a 50s/60s rock style, but after being acquired by J-more the girls have more of a pop/rock/ska sound, only sounding slightly reminiscent of their old sound.
