ν[NEU] (ニュー) was a five member Japanese electropop-rock band of the oshare-kei variety. The group started out as HeaRt in July of 2005 under the independent label LOOP ASH RECORDS, and after some member changes they rebranded themselves as ν[NEU] in the spring of 2007.[1] That was until two of the four members left in September of 2008[2]; three new members joined and the band restarted in July of 2009.[3] On April 7th, 2011 it was announced through their official website that they would be becoming a major band. Their major debut single "RED EMOTION ~Kibou~" was released on July 6th through EMI Music Japan.[4] v[NEU] disbanded on December 29, 2014 after their final one-man live at Shibuya Koukaidou at which their live single "endroll" was distributed.

Biography

2007-2008

ν[NEU] at debut (2007)

ν[NEU] was formed on April 1st, 2007 after both Subaru and Yuki left HeaRt at different points in 2006. They acquired ЯeI (ex-LILAC BERRY), who was previously their support drummer and changed their name to ν[NEU]. The line-up was jun (ex-Kublick) on vocals, nono (ex-JOKER) on guitars, hixro (also ex-JOKER) on bass, and ЯeI on drums. Their first performance was on the same day that they officially formed, at the "stylish wave CIRCUIT '07 Haru no Arashi" event at Takadanobaba AREA.

For two consecutive days beginning on April 16th they participated in two lives. The first was one of the Count Down TOUR '07 ~Saigo no Bansan~ live at Motoyawata ROUTE14, and the second was the "Rk presents29☆☆40th minutes battle!!☆☆" live presented by Rkp at Shibuya O-WEST. On the 21st ν[NEU], along with 176BIZ and Modern Suite, had a three-man conert live at Shibuya O-Crest. Finishing off April was the band's performance at the "CROSS GATE 2007 ~STRAWBERRY SEEDS~" event on the 26th at Harajuku ASTRO HALL. The live was meant to support and promote the compilation album of the same name.

ν[NEU] had their first tour titled ν DEMONSTRATION, which is a play on the word "new". It started on May 1st at Shibuya O-EAST and ended on July 14th at EPP FUKUOKA, altogether hitting 15 stops. On July 18th they released their debut single "HONEY Bee★". This reached #169 on the major Oricon charts, where it charted for a week.

On the same day as their debut single's release, the band started their second tour. It was called HONEY HUNT, began at Shibuya BOXX, and went until August 25th at Takadanobaba AREA, hitting 15 stops. Their second single "Splash!" was released on August 29th. It reached #162 on the major Oricon charts, where it charted for a week. ν[NEU]'s third tour titled MAKE A SPLASH started on September 2nd with an instore event at Like an Edison Harajuku and concluded on October 12th at Shibuya BOXX, hitting 15 stops altogether.

Concluding October was a two-man concert live with LuLu called Nyuururu (ニュールル), which is a combination of both the band's names. It was at Ikebukuro CYBER on the 19th. Preceding their next release was a performance in the "THE Uchouten Metal" event at Shibuya O-EAST on November 1st. ν[NEU] released their debut album NEνER LAND on November 7th in only CD+DVD format, the DVD featuring their first PVs. This reached #204 on the major Oricon charts, where it charted for a week.

Also on November 7th they took part in the "Aki no Shuukaku" event presented by Like an Edison at Shibuya BOXX. The rest of November was made up of three more lives. The first two were two performances in the CRYSTAL GAME TOUR '07 tour, live #1 was at Niigata JUNK BOX mini on the 22nd and live #2 was at Sendai HOOK on the 23rd. The last one was the "Guys Party [Local area limitation party]" event at HEAVEN'S ROCK Kumagai VJ-1 on the 25th.

Rounding off the year was the band's first one-man concert live. This was titled 7th NEνER LAND and was meant to support and promote the release of their debut album. It took place at Takadanobaba AREA on December 2nd. ν[NEU]'s last performance of the year was in the "FINAL 2007" event also at Takadanobaba AREA on the 31st. This event featured 20 bands, including ν[NEU], all of them visual-kei and oshare-kei bands.

ν[NEU] promoting "Kouban" and "Otsuban" (2008)

2008 began with their participation in the Romantic Fuyu Kikou -2008-☆ tour presented by indies label ART POP ENTERTAINMENT. It started on January 19th at Fukuoka DRUM Be-1 and ended on February 2nd at Omotesando FAB, hitting seven stops. The last of January's activities was in Kiteru! BAND's "Kiteru! Matsuri '08" event on the 29th at Shibuya BOXX.

ν[NEU] and LuLu had another two-man concert called Nyuururu 2 on February 3rd at Ikebukuro CYBER. On February 14th the band took part in the "Be My Valentine '08" event presented by Like an Edison at Harajuku ASTRO HALL. They had another two-man concert, this time with Bergerac, at Meguro Rockmaykan on March 17th.

On March 19th they started a two consecutive month single release plan with their third single "Kouban". It reached #73 on the major Oricon charts, where it charted for a week. This was follwed up with the second part of the plan and their fourth single "Otsuban" on April 2nd. It reached #56 on the major Oricon charts, where it charted for a week. ν[NEU] began their first one-man concert tour on April 1st at Shibuya BOXX. They were collectively titled 7th NEνER LAND, which each live having its number in roman numerals. The five date tour lasted until April 29th at Osaka America-mura CLAPPER.

During June the band participated in the CANNONBALL tour, which was to support and promote the release of the compilation album CANNONBALL vol.4. Due to jun's poor physical health he couldn't perform during some of the lives on the tour, with only the other three members performing. The tour began on the 16th at Hokkaido MESSE HALL and concluded on July 4th at Shibuya O-EAST, altogether hitting seven stops. The day after the tour's final, ν[NEU] held their first sponsored event called "BOXX da yo! ν-Kei Shuugou -Baru Ichi-" at Shibua BOXX.

On July 17th they were one of the many bands taking part in the "KING OF BATTLE ROYAL II" event at Urawa Narciss. The band then were on the stylish wave '08 MAX tour in July and August, starting on July 19th at Kashiwa ZAX. This tour went until August 7th at Hiroshima CLUB QUATTRO, hitting eight stops altogether.

ν[NEU]'s fifth single, "SAYONARA Kanransha", was released on August 6th. This reached #20 on the indies Oricon charts. It would be their last single with the then currently line-up, losing two members in the months to follow. The band then announced that they would be going into a hiatus started from September 2nd because of jun's progressing poor physical health.

Before the hiatus they played in one of the ULTIMATE STANDARD tour lives on August 12th at Ikebukuro CYBER. Two days later the band held their second sponsored event titled "Shinyokohama da yo! ν-Kei Shuugou -Baru Ni-" at SUNPHONIX HALL in YOKOHAMA ARENA. Their last lives preceding the hiatus were on/at: August 27th and 31st both at Takadanobaba AREA, and September 2nd at Shibuya O-WEST. on September 2nd it was announced that both nono and jun were both leaving ν[NEU]. nono had musical differences with the band and decided to withdraw, and jun left because of his health. nono would change his name to fumiyoshi and join the band DragonWAPPPPPPER in December of 2008 while jun retired from the music scene.

2009

ν[NEU] promoting "PUSLE / New World" (2009)

With only hixro and ЯeI in the band, there was no activity until July when the new members were revealed. However, ЯeI was a part of the anime visual-kei rock band Chrome Shelled, which had activity during ν[NEU]'s hiatus. In late June the new line-up was revealed, it was: Mitsu (ex-Lad) on vocals, newcommer Takumi on guitar, Kayuu (ex-Kisnate) on guitar, hixro on bass, and ЯeI on drums.

With a new line-up the band played in the "Loop Hiraki" ~9th Anniversary Year LIVE TOUR '09~ tour presented by LOOP ASH RECORDS, celebrating the label's ninth anniversary. It started on July 1st at SUNPHONIX HALL in YOKOHAMA ARENA and ended on July 17th at Takadanobaba AREA, hitting seven stops.

For the rest of July and all of August, ν[NEU] participated in seven events, spanning from July 25th to August 28th. Some of note are: the "Junpuumanpan" event presented by LOOP ASH RECORDS on July 28th at Meguro LIVE STATION, the "Ouka Ranbu" event presented by SPEED DISK on August 24th at Takadanobaba AREA, and two consecutive MoNoLith sponsored events at Meguro LIVE STATION on August 27th/28th called "Childish trap show".

In September they took part in the "Revolutions" -Aki no Shuukaku TOUR 2009- tour presented by Visunavi. This tour began on the 12th at SUNPHONIX HALL in YOKOHAMA ARENA and concluded on the 24th at Takadanobaba AREA, hitting seven stops. On the day before the tour's final the band released their sixth single "PULSE / New World". This was advertised as a "re:start DOUBLE A-side single" and is their first double A-side single. It reached #2 on the indies Oricon charts. To commemorate the new single ν[NEU], presented by LOOP ASH RECORDS, had their first free one-man concert titled FLASH TIME show [Re:N E U:aL]. It was advertised as their "re:start free oneman" concert and was on September 28th at Meguro LIVE STATION.

October was only four lives; the first two were at different JUNK BOX venues, live #1 was at Sendai on the 9th and live #2 was at Niigata on the 11th. The later two lives were both at Meguro LIVE STATION as a part of the "Junpuumanpan" events on the 29th and 30th. On November 4th the band started another two consecutive month single release plan with their seventh single "Pink Marble". This was follwed up with the second part of the plan and their eighth single "Amaoto" on December 2nd.

ν[NEU] played in the "Revolutions" -Shimen Soka- tour presented by Visunavi during December. The three date tour began on the 3rd at Takadanobaba AREA and concluded on the 19th at Nagoya ell.SIZE. They then performed in Reira's first "Chikai" event on December 21st at Shibuya BOXX. On the 29th the band held their first one-man with the new line-up FLASH TIME show [nano PULSE] at Takadanobaba AREA. Ending off the year were two events, the first was the "FINAL 2009" event at Takadanobaba AREA, and the second was the "Shuto Seiatsu 2009~2010" event at Tokyo Kinema Club.
