Song Summaries
1. 極愛自己 (Extremely Love Myself)
Written by the renowned Hong Kong singer Leslie Cheung, in which Chen puts a twist in this song with his natural skills in rapping in the middle of the song before the second part of the song where he says the lines: "You see the world is out there waiting for me that's why I wanna be as free as can be!/ I know that you've been good and you've been sweet, so don't put up a fight, just let it be!/ well, I hope one day, Whild I'm missing you. And so will you be thinking of me!/ Then we can be together, to laugh about the pass, but the love is still there for you and me." The approach of his singing the song is more of a courtship to her lover to be with him for the rest of his entire life where he also sings these lines "I love you.. I love you.." and "I owe you.. I owe you.." are also evident to the approach. The key signature is in the brightly C major where his vocal range spanned in 2 octaves from A2 to F4.
2. 妳 (You)
This soft pop song contains storytelling in the beginning of the song where he rapped in the beginning before he sings the song and continues rapping in the instrumental break of the song. The song is in the key signature of G minor scale whereas his vocal range is in the G2 to Eb4.
3. 要來便來 (To Come Will Come)
This song is from the original Soundtrack of the movie "Gen Y Cops" where he starred in with the same name of his real name. The key signature of this song is in D minor scale for it's mysterious tone to connect with the concept of the movie and the song itself. This dance-pop song contains the mixture of American and Europop style of musicality because of it's technopop beats and it's rap part. On the vocal side, his legato long notes in D4-E4-F4 before the chant "do it! just do it! don't stop! don't stop!" can be heard with excellent tone connection without hesitating. His vocal range in this song spanned from D3 to A4.
4. 甜品 (Dessert)
This rock pop song speaks about the feeling on being stranded in a dessert. The song is in the key signature of E minor where it has a transposition to the relative key of E major.
5. 左上右落 (Right Off The Top Left)
This fast pop song speaks of doing the right directions to avoid being complicated. The song is in the key of A minor where he sings in the range of E3 to F#4 where he also sang notes in an accidental manner in the chorus part. He also provided his backing vocals to this song.
6. 欠了你的愛 (Lacking Your Love)
Is the Mandarin Chinese version of "極愛自己"
7. Heroes
Is the English version of "要來便來" with slight edits that the second repeat of the chorus was not repeated twice unlike the Cantonese version of the song that the second repeat of the chorus was repeated after the 8 measure-break. The song speaks of determination, self confidence and never lose hope for the challenges ahead.
