GALEYD (ガレイド) was a Japanese metal and visual-kei band from Tokyo. The band formed in late November 2011 after the break of aim; Toki, Nikky, and Meku's previous band, whose vocalist Rei quit.[1]

On July 2nd, 2013 it was announced that their main music composer and guitarist, Meku would soon leave the band on August 23rd after their performance at Osaka Ruido due to a large musical differences, GALEYD would soon go into a hiatus.[2] In late October of 2014, GALEYD announced that they would be disbanding after their final one-man, <VS GALEYD>, which was held by ALSDEAD's drummer, Nikky, in February of 2015 at Ikebukuro edge.[3] [4]

Although GALEYD was short lived, the band was best known for their strong instrumental metal sound and harmonic vocalist.

Biography

2011-2012 (Formation and debut)

GALEYD was formed in November of 2011 by three former members of the band, aim, which was active from late 2010 to late 2011. The band recruited vocalist, Garo (ex-Hi:BRiD as JILL) shortly after. The band was signed to their own independent label, MA'FADE RECORDS which a majority of the staff from DELUHI's label, BRAVEMAN RECORDS also worked for. The band's first release was their digital single, "Crimson Chain" which was put onto iTunes in early January of 2012. Following the release, the band played at Takadanobaba AREA on January 17th, following their performance on January 30th, GALEYD participated in an event held by SPEED DISK records entitled, Sakura Hana Ranbu. The two next digital singles were released, "Train" on February 1st and prior to the release of "Replica", GALEYD played at Shinjuku LOFT on February 7th. On February 18th, the band played again at Takodanoba AREA at the event, SHOCK WAVE Apollo Vol.59. The band released their first mini-album entitled, Infitium on February 22nd and took part in Critical Highest *n in late March alongside DIAURA and VII-Sense.

Following their performance, on March 30th, GALEYD played at Shibuya REX at an event hosted by ALSDEAD, entitled MODALITY SLAVES. On April 13th, the band played at Shinjuku LOFT at -Splendid Violent Emotion Vol.2- and would later go on to start their first entry of their three month consecutive release campaign, "Genesis". One day later, GALEYD would play at Shibuya BOXX and join TRIGGAH, NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST, Ladyant Black and more in the event, BREAK OUT BULLET CHANGED THE WORLD. Playing on April 30th at Harajuku Astro Hall at the event, Chaos Mode ~ Next Generation with FEST VAINQUEUR and ACE. GALEYD was a guest at Shibuya REX on March 15th with Order In Disorder, GHOSE, -dist- and more at the event, Exalted recipe vol.7. On May 22nd, the band played in the event, master mind~intense desire~ and the 23rd hosted by NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST was Burn the Freaks at Ikebukuro EDGE. The band also released their second installment of the three month consecutive release, "Loaded".

Starting in June, on the fourth, GALEYD played at the Takadanobaba AREA at the event, AREA 15th Anniversary~MAXIMUM HEAVY CREW. Four days later on June 8th, GALEYD took part in SHINJUKU LOFT×TOWER RECORDS SHINJUKU "master mind~complex mixture~vol.2" at the Shijunku LOFT venue. One day later the band played at Ikebukuro EDGE and the event, CLOSE to EDGE.

Playing yet again at the Takadanobaba AREA on June 18th at the event, SHOCK WAVE vol.63, the band joined EAT YOU ALIVE, the fool, Lament. and m'aidezDei, on the 27th, their final installment of their three month release was finished with, "Destiny". The band played on July 1st and 8th and 10th at Shibuya REX for the event, Exalted recipe vol.10.

On July 20th hosted by VISULOG, the band joined, SCAPEGOAT at HYSTERIC CIRCUS at Ikebukuro EDGE. On July 3rd at Shibuya REX, the band held their first one-man live entitled, Infitial Forward. On August 24th at Shinjuku LOFT, GALEYD played at master mind ~bear fruit~, the 31st at Sendai MACANA at the event DUAL VISION PRESENTS 2012 GAKIDO Event-Tour "S→N" and September 17th at Nagoya ell.FITSALL in Absolute Domain-Zettai Ryouiki-. On September 22nd, the band played at Osaka RUIDO at Splendid Violent Emotion 2012. Following late September to mid November, the band was apart of a multitude of events at Takadanobaba AREA.

On December 2nd, GALEYD held their second one-man live -Mebiustrip- at SHIBUYA BOXX. GALEYD released their second mini-album, EYE WILL... which came out two days later on December 4th and contained footage from their first one-man live back in July. On December 8th the band played at the event, ART POP ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS ONE YEAR SPECIAL at SHIBUYA-REX.

GALEYD joined a handful of bands throughout the dates of December 21st-214th at IMAIKE CLUB 3STAR, OSAKA MUSE and SHIBUYA-REX for multiple events held by different companies. December 29th marked the band's final performance for the year at Ikebukuro EDGE with the event, Gekken Reika SP.

2013 (Guitarist departure and hiatus), 2015 (Disbandment)

Beginning in 2013 in January, GALEYD participated in CЯOWN×CГOWN presents [reflection of desire GOLD~ vol.3] and CЯOWN×CГOWN presents [reflection of desire GOLD~ vol.7] on the 9th at SHIBUYA-REX and February 7th at Takadanobaba AREA. On March 5th, the band released their fourth single, "Revolution" which came with footage from their second one-man live, -Mebiustrip-. Three days later on the eighth, GALEYD took part in the event, DUAL VISION PRESENTS GAKIDO 4th Anniversary Event-Tour "FRIENDS REVOLUTION" at Harajuku ASTRO HALL. GALEYD held their third one-man live at Shibuya WWW on March 16th which was called, Fly for the Revolution. On March 23rd, alongside Grieva, ALSDEAD, DEZERT, AvelCain and more, all played at PS company's event, Chichuu Roukaku sono 191 at Takadanobaba AREA. On April 1st at Ikebukuro EDGE, GALEYD played with NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST, D.I.D. and Sel'm for the event, GEKI-ON vol.1. In early May, GALEYD held a short two day event entitled, GALEYD vs EAT YOU ALIVE on the fourth at Osaka Clapper and the fifth at Nagoya ell.SIZE. On the 11th, GALEYD took part in the event go“S”& death at SHIBUYA-REX. Joining FEST VAINQUEUR, Blitz, cocklobin and Zelktage at OSAKA MUSE at the event, Kashi Matsura -the FINAL- Osaka on the 17th of May, the event was held at a different venue on the 19th at NAGOYA HOLIDAY NEXT entitled, Kashi Matsura -the FINAL- Nagoya.

GALEYD participated in the event Domestic Alien Vol.2 at SHIBUYA-REX alongside PIECE, Neverland, ALIVE and Sick2 on June 6th. GALEYD soon joined NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST and others and embarked on a short tour entitled, ART OF AGGRESSION the 24th at Ikebukuro EDGE, June 15th at Sendai HooK and June 23rd at Imaike 3STAR. Also hosted in mid June was GALEYD's sponsored event by MA'FADE RECORDS entitled, ULTIMATE STUPID PARTY on June 19th at SHIBUYA-REX, joining them were bands such as, Signal, BLACK LINE, METEOROID, SUPER BOYS and xxx is DEAD, Jupiter also joined the event as-well. Releasing their fifth single, "FLEE FROM REALITY" on July 3rd, guitarist and main music composer, Meku would announce his departure from the band due to having a large difference in the music that the band played. The band also had a small number of in-store events to promote their single at, Like An Edison Tokyo, Tower Records Shinjuku and Shibuya and Osaka ZEAL LINK. In late December, Nikky took the place of ALSDEAD's drummer who left in January of 2014, Setsua. Nikky would officialy join ALSDEAD in mid May of the same year. As of April 2014, ex-GALEYD guitarist Meku plays with KAMIJO as a support guitarist for his solo career.
