Gorie's Backstory

Gorie started cheerleading during her women's college years. She fell in love with Kawada Hiroki (who she called Kawa-chan) but he just exploited her. Her rivals are the two members of Kuzu. Her favourite catch-phrases are "Pecori. (ペコリ。)", "Yo.Ro.Ko.Bi~ (ヨ・ロ・コ・ビ~。)" "Kanashimi~. (カナシミ~。)" and so forth. Her father is part of a circus, her mother is actress Ohara Reiko, and naturally her sister is Matsuura Aya. When Gorie was at primary school, her father joined the circus for some extra income to pay off some massive debts that he had made he did such things as balancing on a ball). His mother, after living a hectic life and having only seven hours of sleep a day from all the work decided to split from her husband. Gorie currently attends Pecori University.

Actual Events

Gorie first appeared on stage as part of the variety show One Night Thursday in February 2002. At the time, Gorie was a trend-obsessed teenage girl. However, later on Gorie would take the lead role on such skits as Gorie no Ren'ai Manual and Gorie on Yorokobi! Life, and would continue to gain fame as a variety personality. In February 2003, Gorie became a model for the teen girl magazine Popteen. In October 2003 Gorie would star with a cameo role in the drama Victory! ~Footgirls no Seishun~ as a cheerleader (his 'big sister' Matsuura Aya was playing a starring role in the drama).

In 2004, Gorie was elected as the mascot girl for Oahu Island in Hawaii. He would release his first single Mickey (backed by Jasmine and Joann) which had its PV filmed in Hawaii. Mickey was originally sung by the UK group Racey as "Kitty" in 1979. However, the version that Gorie covered was the Toni Basil US #1 hit Mickey which has become a cheerleader standard. The single would be a major success, beating out such musical acts as Tokyo Jihen and Porno Graffitti to be #1 for two weeks. This was a record, as it had been 23 years since a debut single had been #1 for two weeks (Yakushimaru Hiroko's Sailor-fuku to Kikanjuu).

Gorie would return a year later with the single Pecori♥Night. It was once again a cover of a Billboard #1 hit, Bay City Rollers' 1976 Billboard #1 single Saturday Night. This was a major success, reaching #3 and charting for a whole 53 weeks (albeit this was not as big a Mickey).

At the 2005 Kouhaku, Gorie had a face off between Koda Kumi to see which was the more sexy. Koda Kumi won, but by only 0.2% of the votes. Gorie will revenge this by once again having a battle with Koda at the 2006 Kouhaku and intends to win.

In June 2006, a new PV with the song Koi no Pecori♥Lesson. Once again, this song was a cover of a cover. The original was a Billboard #1 hit in 1963 called I Will Follow Him by Peggy March, but the version that Gorie was covering was the Whoopi Goldberg version shown in the movie Sister Act. The music video featured Jasmine, Joann and several dancer kids in nun's habits and in a church for the opening scenes. A total of three PVs would be shot for the song (the first in California, the second at the set of a Japanese period drama and the third a Hello Kitty-themed CGI themepark version. The single, released in September, while still being a hit by reaching #5 was not as successful as either Mickey or Pecori Night.
