Information
Igarashi Shunji's first foray into the entertainment industry was during his third year of high school, when his mother entered him into JU-NON's 17th Super Boy Contest without his knowledge. He made it to the third round of voting and ended up placing 54th, which became an opportunity to audition for acting roles. In July 2004 he won the Semi-Grand Prix Award of the first D-BOYS audition for new recruits and was inducted into their membership that October. His first acting role came in 2005 with a guest credit for one episode of a drama, but the following year he was cast as the titular character of Ultraman Mebius, of which he participated in for a full year. He focused primarily on Ultraman during this time and resumed regular drama roles after its end in 2007. However, he continued in his role for the Ultraman film and stage production.
Trivia
- Igarashi is allergic to soba, Japanese buckwheat noodles.
- He was a fan of Ultraman Tiga, so when the 2008 film uniting the eight Ultra brothers was produced, he stated he was happy to become friends with Nagano Hiroshi, Tiga's actor.
- He has said in an interview that he has no cavities and has never been to the dentist.
