"infection" is a ballad recorded by Onitsuka Chihiro, first released in 2001 as one of the A-sides on her "infection / LITTLE BEAT RIFLE" single. The song was used as the theme song for the drama Hyouten 2001. "infection" is considered by Onitsuka as the counterpart song to "Ryuuseigun".

Four days after the release of the single, the September 11th attacks occurred. The lyrics in the chorus of "infection" detailing the explosion of a heart was seen as too graphic for the time, and so promotion of the single ceased.
