Kawabe Chieko (河辺千恵子) is a tarento signed with YM2 Agency. She is also a certified Kaatsu instructor and has also been a pilates instructor since 2016. She made her debut as Kawabe Chieco, and is best known for her role as Osaka Naru in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and as Mizuno Ami in Sera Myu.

Modeling and Acting Career

Kawabe began her career at the age of 12 with the Theatre Academy talent agency. In 2001 she was cast as Mizuno Ami in the Sera Myu stage musicals, and in 2002 she became a model for the junior fashion magazine Love Berry. She soon became a fan favorite and was featured in the U-15 and Berry Smile photobooks. She released her solo photobook, 15" in 2002 and an idol DVD, Pop! followed.

In 2003 Kawabe played the role of Osaka Naru in the live action adaption of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. She also co-hosted the annual Music Express concert. It was announced in the April 2005 edition of Love Berry that Kawabe would be departing from the magazine.

Musical Career

Kawabe started to show her interest in singing at the annual Love Berry fashion shows where she would perform. In 2003 Kawabe and fellow Love Berry model Oda Mizuho teamed up to form 156P and released the single "15 no Blues".

In 2004 Kawabe signed with VAP and released her debut single, "be your girl" on April 28, 2004. The song had a downbeat pop-rock sound and it was used as the ending theme for the Elfen Lied anime. The single reached #67 on Oricon and charted for a total of three weeks. Kawabe's second single, "Shining! / cry baby" was released seven months after her debut single. The single reached #157 on the Oricon and charted for only one week.

Kawabe's third single, "Kizunairo" was released two months after her previous single and was the first single she wrote. The single reached #150 on the Oricon and charted for only one week. Almost two months later brought the release of her debut album, brilliance. The album barely cracked into the top hundred, ranking at #92 and charting for only two weeks.

Only four months after the release of her debut album, she released her fourth single "Candy Baby / Mama Made". This single is currently her worst selling single, as it did not rank on the Oricon. Kawabe stayed quiet for about seven months before she announced any new music, as she was enrolled in Asia University from April 2005.

On July 26th, 2006 Kawabe released her fifth single, "Sakura Kiss". The song was used as the opening song for the Ouran High School Host Club anime. This tie-up helped make the single her best selling release to date. The single reached #71 on the Oricon and charted for a total of six weeks.

Current Activities

On February 24, 2008 she announced her engagement to popular producer Ochi Masato on her blog and change of her name to Ochi Chieko. On August 8, 2008, she married Ochi Masato.

Kawabe gave birth to a healthy baby girl on May 21st, 2010 at 10:00 AM. In November 2015, she announced that she and Ochi had divorced and he would be raising their daughter. After the divorce, she returned to using her maiden name.

In November 2020, Kawabe announced that she had married a non-celebrity man.
