Information

Kobayashi Asami got her break in show business in 1970 when she first starred in a Lion's commercial. A year later, she debuted as an actress in the TBS dorama Bijin wa Ikaga?. She later debuted as singer in 1972 with the single "Hatsukoi no Melody" under the label Toshiba EMI. She later took a hiatus in her singing career in 1974 due to stomach ulcers. But, she still went onto act in movies and appeared on shows like the radio program All Night Nippon.

In 1984, she came back in her singing career under a new label CBS Records. Her comeback single, "Amaoto wa Chopin no Shirabe", was a huge hit across Japan, giving Kobayashi her first #1 single based on the Oricon charts. Later that year, she won the Best Album award at the 26th Annual Nihon Record Taishou for her album CRYPTOGRAPH ~Ai no Andou.

Kobayashi retired in 1991 after marrying a company president named Tanabe Shouchi.
