"Komugi Iro no Mermaid" is Matsuda Seiko's 10th single. Matsuda won the grand prize award at the "24nd Japan Record Awards" thanks to the title track. It was re-released in CD format in 2004 including the instrumental tracks. The single reached #1 on Oricon charts and sold 467,000 copies, becoming the #15 single of 1982. The re-edition CD reached #105 and charted for one week.
