Takaoka Sakiko started off studying classical ballet when she was very young. Later on, she became a model for the magazine Seventeen. She became famous after she won the grand prix for the Miss Magazine in 1986. After winning the grand prix, she started to appear in commercials, including one for the Madras in 1988, appeared in her first movie cF Girl in 1989, and received a record deal from the label Victor Entertainment. She released her first single, "Mayonaka no Sabrina", in April of that year.

In 1994, she appeared in her first nude scene in the movie Chushingura Gaiden Yotsuyakaidan. Soon after, she appeared in her first nude photobook in 1996, entitled one、two、three. But, she also appeared in a commercial with actress Azuma Mikisuke for Apagaado in 1995.

Beginning in 1996, Takaoka changed agencies to Stardust Promotion. She also appeared in various tabloids for her marriage life, including one with her former husband, guitarist Hotei Tomoyasu, in 2004 that resulted a divorce from Takaoka and him. And then in 2007, she would change agencies once more from Stardust to Avex.
