TOKYO GIRLS' STYLE promoting "Kirari☆" (2010)

TOKYO GIRLS' STYLE was revealed on January 1, 2010 with the launching of their official website. The goal was to introduce a girl a day on the site, but all girls were leaked on the first day. Prior to this, they had been announced through various media reports, being compared to avex trax's previous girl groups, dream and SweetS.[1] The group performed their first live at SHIBUYA O-nest on February 7th,[2] and they were the opening act for AAA's tour AAA Heart to ♥ TOUR 2010 on April 29th.[3]

On May 5th, 2010 the group released their debut single, "Kirari☆". Their second "debut single", called "Onnaji Kimochi", was released two weeks later on the 19th.

On December 22, 2012 they held a one man live at Nippon Budokan. They became the youngest female group to perform at the venue at the time, with the average age of 15. They held a second live on the same date the following year, 2013.

In July of 2014 the group will perform for the first time in the USA at the J-Pop Summit Festival in San Francisco.

In January 2015 the group made the decision to step away from their idol image and strive to become artists. They released their first best album 1st BEST ALBUM Kirari☆ on May 5, 2015, 5 years after their debut single, to mark the new chapter of their careers.

In June 2015 Konishi Ayano addressed fans through her official blog stating she would be temporarily suspending her activities in order to concentrate on treatment for her lower back pain. There is no set date on her return but she stated "I will do my best so that TOKYO GIRLS' STYLE can resume their activities with 5 people!"

In December of 2015 Konishi Ayano announced her departure from the group, stating "I lost my confidence to keep up with the group who is aiming further ahead. It doesn't feel right to be part of it with this half-hearted attitude. I could even stand in the way of them. Thus I have made this decision." Regarding her future activities outside the group, she wrote "Though it will be a different way, I will try my best with confidence, so I won't lose to the members who are charging head first toward their dreams." With Konishi's departure, the group will continue on as a 4-member group.
