f(x)

f(x) (에프엑스; pronounced "Effects") is a Korean pop girl group created by SM Entertainment. Described as a "girl group with a concept that has never been done before with a dynamic feel", the group was announced to debut in fall 2009 with a goal not only for domestic activity in Korea, but for overseas ventures. The sudden announcement of SM Entertainment’s new girl group generated huge buzz in the news. Krystal, the main vocalist, gained early popularity due to being the younger sister of Girls' Generation’s main vocalist Jessica. The group has been given the title of "Asia Pop Dance Group" by their label and are touted as a multinational group since f(x) consists of members from China, the United States, and South Korea.

After promotions for their debut digital single "LA chA TA" ended, f(x) teamed up with Girls' Generation and released "Chocolate Love", a digital single that consisted of two versions: Girls' Generation's "Retro Pop" version and f(x)'s "Electronic Pop" version. Produced by Bloodshy & Avant, the single was used to promote the LG Cyon "Chocolate" phone. The songs were released on October 8, 2009 and the music video for f(x)'s version of "Chocolate Love" was revealed on October 15, 2009. Girls' Generation and f(x) participated in a "Chocolate Love" showcase, which aired on "GomTv".

Hot Summer, a re-release of their first album PINOCCHIO, was released on June 14, 2011. The new album included only a new song, the title track "HOT SUMMER". It also included the group first two singles "LA chA TA" and "Chu~♡", and the song "Johahaedo Doenayo (...Is It OK?)" originally included on the digital single "Paradise Ranch OST Part.1".
