The 36th Horipro Talent Scout Caravan was held in Shinagawa, Tokyo, on Monday. This year was the first time in the competition’s history that the focus was on voice actresses, and the number of applicants totaled an unprecedented 12,000 people. Preliminary auditions were held in 14 cities, including Los Angeles, and the field was narrowed down to 10 finalists for the final showdown.
The Grand Prix winner was 17-year-old Tadokoro Azusa, hailing from the Ibaraki prefecture. During the singing portion of the competition, she delivered a rendition of Hirano Aya’s “Lost my music,” from the anime series “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” (“Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu”).
