Actor Takeda Tetsuya (62) recently underwent an aortic valve replacement surgery and is currently recovering in the hospital, his management agency has revealed.
According to the agency’s statement, Takeda congenitally has a bicuspid aortic valve, meaning that the valve has two cusps instead of the usual three. About ten years ago, this resulted in aortic stenosis, affecting the blood flow from his heart. He finally received surgery on October 21st to replace the narrowed valve.
The operation seems to have been successful, so Takeda is expected to be able to leave the hospital in early November.
