Seventh Heaven
By the end of 2007, Kajiura Yuki started working on the soundtrack of the movies adaption of Kara no Kyoukai novels. She then 'founded Kalafina to perform seven theme songs for even movies. Their first single, "oblivious" was released on January 23, 2008 with vocals done by KEIKO and WAKANA from the FictionJunction project. The single features theme songs for the first three movies and reached #8 on the Oricon weekly charts. But at this time, the singers' names were not revealed and it was announced that Kalafina will have more vocalists chosen by Kajiura and Sony from a 30,000 participants audition. Their names was finally announced in the "Dream Port" concert when Kalafina performed its opening act.

The new vocalists, HIKARU and MAYA were introduced in their second single, "sprinter / ARIA" and it is the their only single performed by all four vocalists. It was rumored that MAYA was a high-school student and she had to focus on her studies. Subsequently, she was replaced by Kaida Yuriko on their live performances of "sprinter" and "ARIA". Their future releases would only vocally done by KEIKO, WAKANA, and HIKARU. Kalafina released their debut album and fourth single on March 4, 2009. "Seventh Heaven" brought an end to their tie-ins with Kara no Kyoukai.

Red Moon
Breaking away from their original concept, their fourth single, "Lacrimosa", which was released simultaneously with their debut album, was the second ending theme to Kuroshitsuji.

On May 7, 2009, it was announced during Kalafina's "Musou no Rakuen" concert that MAYA was a seasonal member for "sprinter / ARIA" and Kalafina would continue from now on with three members. A new single also was revealed along with the news, "storia", theme song to the TV program Rekishi Hi wa Historia. Three months later, they released their sixth single, "progressive". On January 2010, Kalafina returned to anime tie-ins with their seventh single, "Hikari no Senritsu" which was chosen to be the opening theme for Sora no Oto. With the popularity of the anime, Kalafina's name also raised in anime fans. Following the success of "Hikari no Senritsu", they announced their sophomore album, "Red Moon".

After Eden
Following the release of their second album, "After Eden", they took a short break for lives before returning with their eighth single, "Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni wa" on September 15. On December 1, 2010 they released their first DVD and Blu-ray containing the live performance of "Kalafina LIVE 2010 "Red Moon" at JCB HALL ~ Kajiura Produce 3rd Anniversary LIVE TOUR", as well as documentary about their Asia Tour 2010. Their ninth single "Magia" was released on February 16, 2011, with the title track used as the ending theme for the anime Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica while the B-side song "snow falling" was used as the ending theme song for Kara no Kyoukai's epilogue movie Kara no Kyoukai: Shousho. Another song was announced and was titled "symphonia", used as ending theme for Rekishi Hi wa Historias.

X JAPAN or X was a Japanese visual-kei band formed by YOSHIKI. Their sound started as Japanese rock speed metal, and later went toward alternative rock, but always with a huge emphasis in ballads.

Members
* YOSHIKI: Drums and Piano
* TOSHI: Vocals
* PATA: Guitar
* HEATH: Bass
* SUGIZO: Guitar and Violin

Former Members
* TAIJI: Bass and Chorus (1985-1992) (died in 2011)
* hide: Guitars and Chorus (died in 1998)

Biography
Plans for the band started in 1976, when its original members, TOSHI and YOSHIKI, were only 11. The band's first name was NOISE, later on changing to X in 1983.

Between 1976 and 1987, many people entered and left X, but its most famous formation was already in place when the band went major in 1987, with the release of their first single "Orgasm". The members at that time were: YOSHIKI on drums and piano, TOSHI on vocals, hide, PATA on guitar and TAIJI on bass. No record labels would sign the band because of their transgressive way of dressing and performing. Not to be stopped, YOSHIKI created his own record label, Extasy Records, with money he and his mother helped provide by selling the family business.

In 1992, X was widely known in Japan, and they intended to start focusing in America. In US there was already a band called X, so they were forced to change their name to X JAPAN. A little before changing the name one of the many arguments that used to take place between YOSHIKI and TAIJI led to TAIJI's departure of the band. TAIJI'S last three live performances were Tokyo Dome 3 DAYS ~Hametsu ni Mukatte~. He was replaced by HEATH later in that same year.

After leaving, TAIJI worked with LOUDNESS, D.T.R., and Cloud Nine for a while, and is now in another band with his little sister on vocals, Otokaze. They performed at hide's birthday celebration on December 13, 2004, and TAIJI covered hide's "ROCKET DIVE" as well.

X's music, under the caring but determined supervision of YOSHIKI, never stopped evolving. Amongst their music one can find songs for everybody: harsh but very emotive speed metal tracks like "SADISTIC DESIRE", "Phantom of Guilt" and "VANISHING LOVE"; even more acclaimed ones like "KURENAI" and "Silent Jealousy", moving piano ballads like "Forever Love" (ending theme for the anime adaption of X) and "Tears"; and alternative yet powerful tracks like "DAHLIA" and "Rusty Nail". One particularly notable song was "ART OF LIFE", a carefully crafted piece that was almost half an hour (28:56) long and that the band played twice, both during their X JAPAN RETURNS shows in December 30 and 31, 1993.

Almost all X JAPAN tracks were composed by YOSHIKI with a handful of pieces composed by hide and even some early ones by TAIJI. YOSHIKI loved classical music, and this influence can be specially noted in tracks like "ROSE OF PAIN", "ART OF LIFE" or his symphonic composition "Amethyst". He led a project called Eternal Melody which consisted in X's songs rearranged by George Martin and other arrangers for classical performance. The double album, performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, was released in 1993. YOSHIKI also selected some classical pieces for two compilations called YOSHIKI Selection and YOSHIKI Selection II. He also remade the song "Black Diamond" by KISS into a classical piece that listed in 1994's Tribute -KISS MY ASS- album, a tribute to the aforementioned band.

In May 1997, TOSHI, shocking the fans, announced he was leaving the band, which led to its dissolution in 22nd September 1997. TOSHI then joined a kind of cult, related to nature and music therapy, lead by a man called Masaya. Many say that this cult influenced TOSHI'S departure of the band. After that, he continued his solo career, saying that his friend Masaya was a inspiration for his new compositions. TOSHI himself alleged he was becoming frustrated by the excessive work demanded by the band, and couldn't do what he wanted to do; so to avoid disappointing the other members and the fans, he decided to leave. He has also said that he hadn't enough time for his family and he just couldn't sing anymore YOSHIKI's sad and touching songs.

After the dissolution of the band, hide continued his very successful solo career with his band hide with Spread Beaver, PATA performing with him sometimes.

Posterior to these events, it is said that YOSHIKI and hide were secretly planning to resurrect X in 2000, sans TOSHI, looking for a substitute singer. In the very last case hide would be both, the singer and the guitarist. These plans were tragically scrapped when hide died on May 2, 1998. He was found in his apartment early on May 2, 1998 after a typical night out of hard drinking. He was found hung to a doorknob by a towel at 7:30 am. hide died on the road to the hospital. This news stunned Japan's youth: four fans around the country attempted suicide, two of whom died. A lot of speculation about his death has taken place, but no definitive explanation has been found. An apparent suicide, it's thought to be an accidental death, but there is not a clear motive for either suicide or murder. Following hide's death, YOSHIKI entered in a depressive state for almost three years, being unable to compose or play.

In late 2000, YOSHIKI recovered, and announced the creation of his new project, Violet UK, a project involving music, visuals, mode and art. In 2002 he produced and starred in three commercials for 7-11, using some Violet UK music and concepts for those. However, up to date, not much else from Violet UK has been shown or released. In 2002 also, YOSHIKI announced he was joining the Japanese pop band globe, to help his long time friend Komuro Tetsuya (in 1991, YOSHIKI, on drums, and Komuro, on keyboards and vocals, did a musical collaboration under the name of V2, releasing a single and performing one live concert). Currently YOSHIKI is working with his new project, S.K.I.N., with famous Japanese musicians Gackt, SUGIZO, Miyavi and Ju-Ken.

As a side note, Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi Junichiro has said that he is a big fan of X JAPAN and that his favorite song is "Forever Love", which helped create his image as a different type of politician more in touch with average Japanese citizens.

News has been posted both at YOSHIKI's official blog as well as at TOSHI's website that plans are underway to re-form the band.

The reunion was officially confirmed on June 4, 2007. The band had its first live performance since nearly 10 years on October 22, 2007, on the rooftop of a shopping center called Aqua City in Odaiba, Tokyo. It was to film the PV for their new digital single called "I.V.", written by YOSHIKI and recorded by all living members of the band it uses unreleased music samples by hide. This song is also used as the main theme for the horror movie Saw IV all over the world.
On July 17, 2011, Taiji died after attempting suicide.

Following the success of "Hikari no Senritsu", they announced their sophomore album, Red Moon.

After Eden
Following the release of their second album, After Eden, they took a short break for lives before returning with their eighth single, "Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni wa" on September 15. On December 1, 2010 they released their first DVD and Blu-ray containing the live performance of Kalafina LIVE 2010 "Red Moon" at JCB HALL ~ Kajiura Produce 3rd Anniversary LIVE TOUR, as well as documentary about their Asia Tour 2010.
Hirai Ken was spotted at a SMEJ audition in '92 where he became an award winner. In 1995 he debuted with the single Precious Junk, which was the theme to a TV Drama earning it some moderate success. 1998 was a real turning point in his career when, with his 7th single Love Love Love, Ken went from singing what he had to sing, to what he really wanted to sing. The next single, LAKuEN, did well in the Oricon charts and earned him a fair amount of attention. To date he has released 5 albums and a recent 'concept album', Ken's Bar, an album of covers done in Ken's own style. His music incorporates influences from a soulful gospel sound, based on 70's soul, to contemporary R&B, jazz, funk, and hip-hop. His musical style and unique voice has won scores of fans all across Asia (his 4th album gaining through losing, released in 2001, reached 1.5 million sales all over Asia).

Charachterized by fast-paced, upbeat rock and the added element of a keyboard player, Janne Da Arc has become a major player in the Japanese rock industry.
Biography
Osaka 1989, At the age of 14, yasu and ka-yu, who went to school together, decided to form a band. The two recruited kiyo and Chiba. The formation is yasu on vocals, ka-yu on bass, Chiba on drums and kiyo on keyboard. For unknown reasons, ka-yu then leaves the band and is replaced by Ino. In 1990, the band is given the name Okyan Teiisu.

In 1991, youjoins the group as the new guitarist. The name Janne Da Arc is now adopted, inspired by a character from the manga Violence Jack, created by Nagai Go. Chiba leaves the group for several months in 1992, and shuji becomes the backup drummer for the band until Chiba returns. In that same year, ka-yu returns, and the group begins their time as an independent band in the Japanese rock scene, recording their first demo tape in November. Two more demo tapes follow in 1993 and 1994. In 1995, Chiba leaves the band for good and shuji becomes the permanent drummer.

In 1997, their first mini-album "Resist" is recorded. 1998 brings "Dearly", their second mini album and a re-recorded version of "Resist" with new songs. Their third mini-album "CHAOS MODE" is released in 1999. This year marks a turning point in the history of Janne Da Arc. The band is finally signed to a major label, avex trax, and their debut single as a major group, "RED ZONE" is released. The band embarks upon their first tour as a major group, called CHAOS ZONE. 2000 brings their first major album, D.N.A..

Since 2000, Janne Da Arc has released six new albums, along with two singles collections, and several hit singles such as "EDEN ~Kimi ga Inai~" and "Gekkouka". Their single "Furimukeba... / Destination" debuted at #2 on the Oricon weekly charts, selling over 77,000 copies. Their last studio album JOKER was released in June 2005.
They have since continued on after that objective was complete. They are currently signed to Sony Music Entertainment.
By the end of 2007, Kajiura Yuki started working on the soundtrack of the movies adaption of Kara no Kyoukai novels. She then 'founded Kalafina to perform seven theme songs fors even movies.

It was rumored that MAYA is a high-school student and she had to focus on her studies. Subsequently, she was replaced by Kaida Yuriko in their live performances of sprinter and ARIA. Their future releases are only vocally done by KEIKO, WAKANA, and HIKARU. Kalafina released their debut album and fourth single on March 4, 2009.

A new single also was revealed along with the news, "storia", theme song to NHK program Rekishi Hiwa Historia.

After Eden
Following the release of their second album, they took a short break for lives before returning with their eighth single, "Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni wa" on September 15.
