AV
AV is short for adult video, or pornography. Like many words imported from English into Japan, adult video was shortened to a much easier to pronounce "AV". These idols are the stars of Asia's thriving porn industry, some started as gravure idols, but many also start in the AV world and may cross over from it. Some have also been used (successfully) to pull off extensive ad campaigns for various companies, including lending firms and more.
