Gomattou

ごまっとう (Gomattou) was a one-shot Hello! Project group whose sole release was in November 2002. The group was formed in October of 2002 as a dance-based group with an R&B style. Members were Hello! Project soloists Matsuura Aya and Fujimoto Miki led by Morning Musume's (since graduated) Goto Maki.

In 2004, Maki and Aya would become two thirds of Nochiura Natsumi, in 2005, Maki and Aya would become two fourths of DEF.DIVA and in 2006 Aya and Miki would form GAM.

The Name

The name "Gomattou" (ごまっとう) is made from parts of the names of each of its members:

  • ご (GO) - 後藤 (GOTOU)
  • まっ (MAT) - 松浦 (MATSUURA)
  • とう (TOU) - 藤本 (FUJIMOTO)*
  • The kanji 藤 is pronounced FUJI in Fujimoto's name, but it can also be pronounced as TOU.
