- Information
"M" is the 19th single released by Hamasaki Ayumi. The lyrics of "M" are about Ayumi talking to "Maria" (the Japanese reference to The Virgin Mary), or also possibly to Mary Magdalene, hence the title "M". The orininal and a remix of the song were both used in ad campaigns for the TU-KA mobile phones. The first CM ad features the original song and is promoting the "TT03Z A Model", with a limited cell phone designed by Ayumi herself. The other CM features the remix and is promoting the TU-KA funstyle mobile phone. This is the first song with music written by Ayumi under her pen name CREA. The single reached #1 on Oricon charts and stayed on the charts for a total of eighteen weeks. During it's first week the single sold 541,350 copies and has since sold a total of 1,319,070 copies.
"M" is also the 2nd DVD single released by Hamasaki Ayumi. The DVD single released two months after the CD single and contains both the CM promoting the CD and music video for the song.

Music Video
The music video for "M" was directed by Wataru Takeishi. The video features Ayumi standing inside of a church, and after the snow creeps in another Ayumi appears in a wedding dress wearing blue contacts. The video then switches to an outside view of the church were Ayumi and her band are playing. After the song ends the wedding gown image of Ayumi leaves the church just how it entered.
