Ryohei, the former guitarist and leader of Ayabie, formed the group in Tokyo some time after his departure from the band in August of 2006. Biography

2006-2007

Megamasso promoting Namida Neko (2006)

Megamasso was formed sometime after August 30th, 2006 and before December of 2006. It was put together by Ryohei, the former guitarist and leader of Ayabie. The band members also contained newcomer vocalist INZARGI, former Dari bassist Gou, and former Ayabie rodie Yuta. They also had Leo, who was their live support guitarist. For the band's name, Ryohei had wanted a four syllable name since he was in his first band. But in Japanese characters as he didn't care how it was romanized in English. He had chosen メガマソ because the syllables "me ga ma so" sounded beautiful to him.

The band's very first release was the mini-album Namida Neko. It was first released on December 6th through Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka's Like an Edisons shops. One week later (the 13th) was when the mini-album became available to purchase nationally. It since reached #100 on the major Oricon chart, where it charted for two weeks.

Their first live was played at Shibuya O-EAST on December 16th. They had played twice at the same venue on the same day, calling the lives "DAYLIGHT" and "LIMELIGHT" respectively. At each live, attendees were given the single "New Romancer (Shinkeikei Ajinsei)". The two different covers determind what time the live was at. One of those lives were filmed and released later as the DVD "Mega-star Tokyo" on February 21st, 2007.

2006 ended with Megamasso performing at the "stylish wave COUNTDOWN '06-'07" at Yokohama Akarenga Souko on December 31st. And 2007 started with a fanclub only live at Harajuku ASTRO HALL on January 4th. Megamasso's fanclub was called Mega-star's prayer.

Their first project live, titled "~Denpa Taisen~" was held at Shinjuku LOFT on January 14th. They then became a part of Guy's Family's first sponsored live party. It was called "Guy's Party", and was at LIQUID ROOM ebisu on the 20th. January ended with the release of their second mini-album Kai no Me Tou no Zokuryou. Which was released on the 24th, it has reached #8 on the indies Oricon chart, and #129 on the major Oricon chart where it charted for a week.

February began with another Megamasso project, this time at Daikanyama UNIT on the 5th. It was with Vidoll and was titled "Twin Clown Machinery". The band then had their second fanclub only live called "Megamasso to Issho" at Yokohama BLITZ on the 14th. A three date mini-tour, "Shingest no Mizutamari -Zenshousen Sanhon Shoubu!-", led into March. Starting at Motoyawata ROUTE14 on the 26th and ended at Urawa Narciss on March 6th.

It was filmed and was later released as a part of the DVD "lunch box M4". The single "Viper" was given out to all attendees, and their live support guitarist Leo left the band. He later went on to be a part of Watashime Slug, and when that disbanded he later joined NaiL.

Three days later (the 9th), Yuta decided to permanently leave the band because of the differences in the way he personally wanted the band to go in. Megamasso wouldn't get another drummer so instead they use recording and live support drummers.
