18th Yomiuri Theater Awards

The 18th annual Yomiuri Theater Awards were presented in Tokyo on Friday. The Grand Prix and Best Play awards were given to “The Character,” produced by theatrical group NODA MAP and featuring Miyazawa Rie, Furuta Arata, Fujii Takashi, Minami, and Hashizume Isao.

One notable winner was actress Tabe Mikako, who received the Sugimura Haruko Award, given to a newcomer. Last year, Tabe earned critical praise for her first lead stage role in “Nougyou Shoujo.”
