The group as the dance-pop group ZONE in 1999 with the single "believe in love". During the her time with the group they spawned several hits before dissolving in 2005. While in ZONE, Maiko only sang two solo tracks. The songs "Sae Zuri" (Bird Chirping) and "Like".

During 2005, Maiko did a short stint with the Studio RunTime group BON'Z. Since then she has joined the six piece all girl band, MARIA. The group debuted in 2006 with the single "Chiisa na Uta". Maiko has written the lyrics for both tracks on their "Chiisa na Uta" single.

Maiko is also a radio personality who got her first radio show back in 2004. Nowadays she and the other members of MARIA have a radio show.
