"Mayonaka wa Junketsu" is Shiina Ringo's seventh single. Featured on this single is the well-known band Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. The single also has a remade version of Sid to Hakuchuumu from Shiina's Muzai Moratorium album featuring a new jazz arrangement. This single does not appear on any album of Shiina's, and was released after a long period of inactivity. However, the PV for Mayonaka wa Junketsu appears on Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana's PV collection, Seiteki Healing ~Vol. III~. It is rumored that the PV for Mayonaka wa Junketsu was animated due to the fact that Shiina was a few months into her pregnancy.
Strangely, this single was also released as a vinyl 15 days earlier that was 100 yen more expensive than the single. No special features were included in it. The single reached #2 in Oricon charts, and charted for nine weeks. 358,000 copies were sold of the single version in Japan, and 16,000 copies of the vinyl version were sold.
