ANRI

ANRI (杏里) is a Japanese pop singer-songwriter. She made her debut with the single "Olivia wo Kikinagara" in 1978. ANRI was very popular in the 1980s and early 1990s when her albums topped the Oricon charts. Her 13th single, "CAT'S EYE" released in 1983 was featured as the first opening theme for the anime CAT'S EYE. The song is known as one the first Japanese pop songs used as an anime theme song. ANRI is also cited as the first singer to bring the Western influences into Japanese music. In 2002, she began to collaborate with American guitarist Lee Ritenour. The couple also announced their engagement in 2005, however ANRI broke it off in April 2008 to continue her music activities as her own pace.
