Hyun A debuted with the Wonder Girls as the "Rapper" in 2007. However, during the preparations of the Wonder Girls debut album The Wonder Years, Hyun A left the group due to health issues. In June, Hyun A re-debuted with 4minute, a girl group formed by Cube Entertainment; the sister label of JYP Entertainment. Her involvement with 4minute was 1st announced in May 2009. Then in August, Rap duo Mighty Mouth featured Hyun A along with UEE from After School in their song "Love Class".
