Black Biscuits formed in 1997 with Comedians Nana Mikyoya, Amano Hiroyuki, and then unknown Chinese singer Vivian Hsu after the success of the group Pocket Biscuits. Black Biscuits challenged Pocket Biscuits to see who can reached the top of the Oricon charts and become the most popular group in Japan first. In turn, the group appealed to the Japanese audience as a dance unit. They released their first single, "STAMINA", by the end of 1997 with much success.
They released their second and third single, "Timing" and "Relax", which features Amano on main vocals, in 1998 with the same success as their debut single.
