FTISLAND

F.T Island (에프티 아일랜드) is a Korean boyband consisting of five members. F.T stands for "Five Treasure" and means that each member is a treasure of talent in their own right. Their official color is yellow. They debuted May, 2007 and have currently become one of South Korea's most popular boybands.

Information

F.T Island debuted in May, 2007. Originally, the band was going to release an album but instead it was decided that they would do promotional performances and appearances first. They first appeared on the television program "Dugeun Dugeun Yeochinmandeulgi", performed live at Rolling Hall and Live House Melon-AX in Seoul on May 27th, 2007. The day after their first album was released, they made their first debut on the music program M!Countdown.

"Cheerful Sensibility", their debut album, had two CDs with different "chapters". One CD contained soft rock ballad tracks and was called the "Emotional Chapter", while the upbeat tempo tracks on the second CD was called the "F.T Island Chapter". The songs on the poppier, upbeat, catchy tunes were written by the same people who have produced music for popular Japanese boyband SMAP.

On December 6th, 2007, F.T Island released a special album called "The Refreshment". Following the trend of the first album, it also had an "Emotional Chapter" and an "F.T Island Chapter." The repackage came in a box, and with it came a photobook of the members in casual day to day poses and photos. It also had a pack of cards with photos on them, and a music mixing program so the vocals and instruments on the CDs could be freely adjusted.

Since "Cheerful Sensibility", F.T. Island has become one of the country's most popular boy bands. They have won the "Best New Male Group" award for 2007, along with other prestigious awards in a short time.
