Cosmic Girls (우주소녀; Wu Ju So Nyeo or WJSN) (宇宙少女; Uchuu Shoujo in Japanese or Yǔzhòu Shàonǚ in Chinese) is a Korean pop girl group created by Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment.CEO Kim came up with both Girls' Generation's name and Cosmic Girls' resulting in their similar sound. On July 11, 2016, Starship Entertainment confirmed the addition of Yeonjung to the group. They debuted in 2016 as a 13-member group that consisted of both Korean and Chinese members. On March 3, 2023, it was announced that the Chinese members, who had been on hiatus from the group since 2021 to focus on promotions in China, and Luda and Dawon had not renewed their contracts witht the company.
