BoA promoting Hurricane Venus (2010)

BoA is a Korean singer who is multi-lingual. She debuted under SM Entertainment in the year 2000 at the age of 14. They very quickly then handed her over to avex trax for her Japanese music promotions. Her debut Japanese single was ID; Peace B and it reached #20 on the Oricon Charts. The album followed, reaching #1 and nearly selling a million copies. She carried on being a successful singer in both countries, then she released her last album in Korea, Girls On Top, becoming more focused on the Japanese market.

Her best selling Japanese single is the 2002 song, VALENTI, which sold 201,810 copies. At the moment, her lowest selling single is WOO WEEKEND, which has currently only sold 8,544 copies, which means VALENTI sold 193,266 more copies than WOO WEEKEND.

She is known for the fact that in Japan she had a streak of #1 albums, beginning with LISTEN TO MY HEART and ending with MADE IN TWENTY (20). Additionally, VALENTI is also her best selling Japanese album. IDENTITY broke the streak of 6 #1 albums, charting at #4 and selling only 59,408 copies, a far cry from the sales of VALENTI and LISTEN TO MY HEART.

This year , on the 5th August 2010, she is making her Korean comeback. The album, Hurricane Venus has much hype already, and it is expected that it will sell many copies. Many fans think that this material is better than her Japanese music for the past 2 years.
