Collectors Will Pay Thousands Of Dollars For Old Childhood Toys

Old-school children's toys are in high demand, with collectors willing to pay thousands of dollars to relive the nostalgia of their childhoods.
Vintage toys currently gathering dust in attics and garages could be worth a small fortune, according to expert auctioneer and valuer Matt McDonald.
The big ticket items include Toy Story collectibles, rare [/scMr McDonald said the desire to purchase retro toys comes from a sense of nostalgia for the past.
Japanese and Taiwanese robots from the 1950's (pictured, right) could be sold for up to $1500
'You can remember that Christmas when you got your little robot and it was your favourite thing in the world. Now everyone has grown up they're trying to recapture that', he said.

Items don't have to be vintage to be collectible, with Pokemon cards and Toy Story figurines in high demand.
'What Pokemon do that's clever. They will release millions and millions of cards then they will release 10 of one card. That's what all the collectors chase', he said.
Mr McDonald said the items in their original boxes will sell for more than those without, because genuine collectors are looking for the 'complete unit'.
'The boxes are very, very important to the items', he said.
Mr McDonald said there was two main options to sell vintage toys, at local auction houses or online platforms.
Local auction houses have a extensive customer database, and will catalog the toys correctly, but selling online means you can gauge the market for each toy.
A rare Pokemon card 'Charizard' was sold last December for nearly $500,000, making it the most expensive in history, with another selling in 2019 for $165,000.
