Information

Higya Merabe is the debut album released by Hajime Chitose, and her first and only release on cassette tape. It is a cover album of Shima-Uta songs sung in the Amami language. After Hajime won a couple of Amami Folk Song contests, she was approached by Central Gakki records and recorded this album. She was only 15 years old at the time of release and plays the shamisen throughout. Moriyama Yoriko accompanied Hajime on tracks #1 to #5 on Side A, and #1 and #9 on Side B. Nakano Sueko accompanied Hajime on tracks #6 to #8 on Side A, and #2 to #8 on Side B.
