Narumi was the winner of the Best Smile at Avex Audition 2001 when she was 12. She was then put into the Oha Girl group Fruits Punch with Ishikawa Eri, Kojima Yurie, Ebisawa Kanna, and Sugibayashi Saori. They released one single and did a collaboration on Avex's 2003 group "1st Xmas" with dream and SweetS. Most recently, Narumi was the leader of the group Doll's Vox with close friend Okamoto Natsuki looking up to her. (This was also a short-lived unit.) Narumi was also a member of the gravure group Seikore in 2003 along with Kawamura Yukie. She won the Grand Prix award for the year.

In July 2004, Narumi won the 41st Drama Academy Award for newcomer actress. She was in the dramas "Fight" and guest-starred in "Dekaranger". She is the spokesgirl for Gundam Seed and a Lotte candy. Narumi has been in over half of the issues of the lolita mook "Pure Pure" and has modeled regularly for the magazines melon and CANDy until 2004.
