exist†trace is a five member all-female Japanese rock band in the visual-kei scene that formed in June of 2003. Their name is supposed to mean "The presence of traces", which is also their concept, asking the meaning of life through music.[1] Visually they can be described as gothic and while some members go for a more feminine look, their image remains dark. It matches their music well, which is gloomy and heavy; Jyou compliments that with screaming, growling, and melodic singing.

They were an indies band signed with Sequence Records (2006-2008) and Monster's inc. (2008-2010), which now manages them. On January 9th, 2011 during their live at SHIBUYA BOXX it was announced that exist†trace would be making their major debut.[2] Later, details about their debut was revealed; TRUE, their major debut mini-album, was to be released on June 15th through Tokuma Japan Communications.[3]
