XG promoting THE CORE - Kaku (2026)

XG

XG (Xtraordinary Genes) is an global Japanese Hip-Hop/R&B group under XGALX, a subsidiary of avex trax. While consisting of all Japanese members, the group primarily promotes in South Korea and sings in English. They made their debut on March 18, 2022, with the release of the digital single "Tippy Toes".

XG's social media accounts were launched on January 25, 2022, with a short video entitled XGALX – The Beginning. Several teasers were released afterwards, including song covers, performance videos, and most noteably, the rap cypher video entitled GALZ XYPHER. The video became viral on a TikTok through an XG fan account, gaining 14 million views on the platform. On November 2, 2022, XG won the Rising Star Award at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan.

On January 25, 2023, XG released their third all English-language single, "Shooting Star", featuring the title track, its music video, and an additional track titled "Left Right". On March 6th, XG entered the Mediabase US Radio Top 40, becoming the first female Japanese artist and the first Japanese group to do so. On June 30th, XG released "GRL GVNG" accompanied by its music video, as a pre-release single preceding their first EP NEW DNA. On August 4th, XG released "TGIF" accompanied by its music video, as the second pre-release single to the EP. On August 23, XG released the third and final pre-release single, "New Dance", accompanied by its music video. On September 27th, XG released their first EP NEW DNA with its lead track "PUPPET SHOW", accompanied by its music video. The EP was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan for shipments of over 100,000 copies.

Their first full-length album, THE CORE - Kaku, is released this week on January 23rd.
