After completing a challenge to sell 1,000 copies of her debut indie single, "Naku na Okamechan", in June-July 2009 and also lose an agreed amount of weight, Karen was signed to Victor Entertainment releasing her major debut single, "Naku na Okamechan / Miren Zaka", on September 23, 2009.

At the NICE GIRL Project! 2010 September Live concert, it was announced that Karen had graduated from NICE GIRL Project! She went on to release three more singles before announcing that she had been signed to Sun Music Group in September 2013. Her next single was released in January 2014. She also changed her name from カレン (Karen) to 歌恋 (Karen).

She lefts the music in December 2015 and cancelled her single Ai ga Naiteru / Yuki ni Mayotte.
